All of Sears franchisees and corporate shops should have received and installed the SEARS ProfitMaster CD (SR3). All of you should already be using the new Internet Upload feature and we are very happy to report that this update went very smoothly and there are no known pending issues.
July 15th we had the pleasure of a visit by Carlos Galarce (Systems Director, Home Services). He had the opportunity to review our brand-new in-house software and gave us valued input. We'll soon provide Ron and Dona in Columbus direct access to this new software. That will allow us to have centralized database of all service calls as well as central Knowledge Database.
As you may know already, SEARS Carpet Care (US) has moved its offices to new much larger (and nicer) offices. The new address is:

Canada
All
of the Canadians SEARS operations should have received and installed the CanWay
ProfitMaster (SR3). All of you should already be using the new Internet Upload
feature. We hope you are taking advantage of the new Sales Tax system. You may
now use both GST, HST, etc and have
different definitions for each postal code.
Best wishes to our Canadian (Dutch) friend Bo Hansen, who is no longer the MIS for SEARS Canada (CanWay). Bo has decided to pursue some other opportunities and I am sure we'll all miss him.
ProfitMaster 6.0 EP-0 Now Shipping.
We are proud to announce our
new ProfitMaster 6.0 EP-0 (Early Preview). This latest update includes many
improvements that many of you, our loyal clients, were kind enough to suggest.
Here is a list of some of the new features of this latest ProfitMaster update.
Please refer to our April 99 issue for a list of new features of the preceding
updates SR-2 (Dec-98) and SR-3 (April 99).

You
may now enter up to 99 service lines instead of 20. Work Orders will print on
up to 5 pages to accommodate extra lines.
·
You
may now email any report just as easy as it is to Print, View on screen or Fax.
·
You
may now modify the default Salutation from "Ms." To any one you
prefer, including none at all. Simply RIGHT CLICK the Salutation Field and specify your preference.
·
Default
Area Code will now be entered
automatically into all Phone Fields and all Search
Windows.
·
When
searching for a Work Order or Invoice the Lookup Windows now utilizes color scheme to highlight Voids, Open Balance, and Past Due
Invoices.
·
When
entering a new Work Order for an Existing
Customer a warning will automatically appear if the customer has Open
Balance, or Past Due Invoices.
·
The
comment line has been extended from 65 to 255 characters, about 4 lines of text
instead of just 1 line.
·
When
saving a Work Order you may now specify Automatic Reoccurring based on
frequency and duration. This will automatically create all future Work Orders
of such service program.
·
When
saving a Work Order you'll now be able to specify the Customer Note, Group,
and Send Mail, attributes of the
customer record without having to switch to the Customer & Billing Records file.
·
When
switching from the Orders / Estimates /
Invoices File into the Customer & Billing Records file the
program will automatically display the matching record of the current Work
Order.
·
You
can now specify to include/exclude Header and Footer independent of using
Pre-Printed forms, without having to clear the Header/Footer.
·
The
MailMerge Wizard was updated to support the latest Microsoft Word 2000.
·
The
MailMerge Wizard now allows different sorting options and other improvements.
·
You
may now include any graphic (Logo), fonts, and colors in your Headers and
Footers.
